Getting crafty in a steaming bath! blogs

March is the month when we go mad for crafty creativity in the bathroom.

Let’s be honest, some of those potions in your sanctuary cupboards and drawers haven’t seen the light of day in years, let alone made it into your bath tub.

Yet someone (probably you) paid top dollar for those “miracle” cures the top stores tell you will purge away all your aches and pains.

So here’s our message for Craft Month: Make the potions yourself – and we reckon you’re much more likely to remember to spill them regularly under a hot tap

“Make them myself?!” I hear you protest.

Well yes, it really isn’t that difficult.

Take this herbal bath soak designed by the wonderful Shellie Wilson of to repair tired and aching muscles.

What you need:
1 Cup Chamomile leaves
12 Crushed Bay Leaves
1/4 Cup Rose Petals
1/4 Cup Sage
1/4 Cup Rosemary
1/4 Cup Oregano

No messing, simply place all the herbs into the bath tub (they look especially great in a deep free-standing bath, but we would say that!), or wrap the herbs in a square of muslin fabric tied with cord.

Then drop the herb-filled bundle directly into the water.

The final ingredient is you. Slide into that welcoming bath, breathe deeply and soak your cares away for around 15 minutes.

So simple to make – and do feel free to add in the essential oils of your choice.

There are many more amazing recipes out there – from DIY bath melts and detox potions to luxurious lavender bath salts and oatmeal milk bath mixes – you can even make your own herbal bath tea (is that tea for two anyone?).

Just type “Herbal bath recipes” into your favourite search engine and get crafty! These potions also make unique gifts, beautifully presented in a decorated upcycled glass jar or bewitching basket.

Happy Craft Month!
