What would mum want on Mother’s Day?

Let’s get one thing straight: making Mothers’ Day just right on March 6 isn’t the responsibility of the kids (unless, perhaps, they’re properly grown up and have flown the nest).

No dad, making sure that your better half gets what she wants on Mothers’ Day is down to you – the kids just take the credit!

The good news is that she knows this to be the case – what she might not second guess is you being daringly romantic enough to fix up the bathroom as a really special Mums’ Day gift (even if she has been dropping oh-so-big hints about everything that’s wrong with that neglected room!).

Giving the family sanctuary a feminine feel is no bad thing, especially when it comes to the bath.  Freestanding roll-top baths are an on-trend romantic choice – and a sumptuously deep tub is a fabulous way for your loved one to unwind while you’re cleaning the dishes from that delicious Sunday roast you prepared (with a bit of “help” from the little rascals).

And don’t forget the rose petals, bath bubbles, chocolates, tea lights, flowers and fizz to make her Mothers’ Day bathroom pampering experience just-so. Much better than the kids dozily throwing all their gifts for mum onto the bed first thing in the morning!

But back to that bathroom upgrade. Remember you’re going to reap the benefits of the new vintage tub too – in fact we absolutely love baths that are big enough for sharing, especially the ones with taps in the middle. Ahem, might we recommend our beautifully vintage bath shower mixer range, and why not complete the delightfully dainty new look with a classically styled basin and pedestal?

If your bathroom is just too bijou for a bath, let alone a free-standing tub, how about glamming-up your sanctuary for mum with a brand new shower and enclosure? Some of the futuristic power showers and concealed shower kits out there have the potential to transform your bathroom – and make for an eye-opening gift on Mothers’ Day.

If you’re looking for big impact without breaking the bank (even if she’s worth it…) an illuminated mirror can create a new feeling of spaciousness in your sanctuary – and look out for LED and illuminated bathroom mirrors featuring a motion sensor that lets her turn them on and off with a wave of her hand. Now that really should make her feel like a princess for the day!

Whether you go vintage or futuristic, accessorise inexpensively with towel rings and rails, toilet roll holders and fluffy towels, not forgetting the practicality of installing a mirrored cabinet to help make her new-look bathroom clutter-free.

So there you have it – all the ingredients to make this Mothers’ Day unforgettable all round.

Happy Mothers’ Day (especially to you dad!).
