Couple-fy your Bathroom!
As Valentine’s Day is upon us, we thought we would dive into the bathroom psychology of ‘The Couple’. You live together, eat together and sleep next to each other but somehow it’s those annoying bathroom habits that cause the most arguments! Do you find yourself bickering over the bog roll? Throwing tantrums over the towels? We have eight tips and tricks to make your bathroom a more serene place for you both to share in peace (hopefully!)
1. ‘Not So Double Trouble’
Hudson Reed Quartlet High Gloss Graphite Double Basin Cabinet
Start your day on a positive note with two sinks. Although this may seem a luxurious ask, it’s actually very achievable. Take a look at our Hudson Reed Quartlet High Gloss Graphite Double Basin Cabinet, for example. With a polymarble double basin and four large metal box drawers, there is plenty of room for both of you to store your bathroom essentials. Simply designate a side and two boxes each for fuss free and argument free storage. You’ll be able to brush your teeth while they shave – at the same time!
2. ‘Mirror Image’
Imagine this - you’re both in a rush to get to work on time, you both need to use the bathroom but there’s only one mirror… If the thought of that made you feel a bit faint, don’t panic. The solution is simple – two mirrors! And it doesn’t stop there. How about two mirrors that also have storage? Take a look at our Liberty Stainless Steel Sliding Door Mirror Cabinet, with so many benefits, they'll quickly become your new best friend!

3. ‘Bathe in the Glory’
Bathe in the Glory
A bath is the perfect opportunity to relax, unwind and leave the stress of the day behind. If you fancy sharing that experience with your Valentine, we recommend a big bath full of bubbles – more specifically our Back to Wall Bath. This bath in particular is double ended so you can both enjoy a bath without the taps interfering. All you need now is a glass (or a bottle) of wine, candles and some time set aside for a good old catch up.
4. ‘Clean and Tidy’
Clean and Tidy
If your other half uses the ‘I didn’t know which shampoo/conditioner/body wash/razor was mine or yours’ excuse, you’re in need of some labelled shower baskets. Simply pop one in your shower and attach a (waterproof!) label to the front – they will have no excuse and your shower will always be neat and tidy. We recommend our very own 2 Tier Corner Shower Basket.
5. ‘Hanging Out’
Are you always bugging your partner to pick their towels up off the floor? Do they pretend to listen but actually ignore you? You are in need of a towel hanger! This simple addition to your bathroom should make a world of difference. All they literally need to do is hang their towel on your new, wonderful rail (such as this Holbeck Towel Hanger Rail) – and voila – big smiles all round!
6. ‘Brush it Off’
This one may sound obvious, but it’s still pretty genius. If your other half has a tendency to leave the lid off the toothpaste, dump their toothbrush in awkward places or somehow manages to get toothpaste everywhere – your own toothbrush holder isn’t such a bad idea. Simple, but it works!
7. ‘Hooked on You’
Hooked on You
Just like the trusty double tooth brush holder, double hooks are also a mini miracle. If you have robes, towels, or pyjamas that need a safe place to hide while you shower, a hook on the back of your door is a simple, easy and effective solution. Our Jesmond Robe Hook is the perfect example and as it is a cheap addition – you can have a hook each! Easy peasy
8. 'Toilet Humour’
We reckon that all this bathroom tension can be fixed with a few wall hangings that make you giggle every now and again. If you’re struggling to strike a balance between designs that you both like and agree on, just go for some wall hangings that make you smile. After all, a bathroom should be a place that you can relax in and wash all your worries away.
Ah love, eh? Full of wonder, happiness and wet towels on the floor… Happy Valentine’s Day!
