5 Ways to kick-start your day
Are you a morning person? If not it can be tempting to hit that snooze button and head back under the duvet for an extra ten minutes when the alarm goes off at the beginning of the day.
If you are someone who struggles with early starts there are a number of simple steps you can take to improve your daily routine and ensure that your mornings are more organised, productive and stress free.
Here are five ways to kick-start your day.
1. Update your bathroom with a new shower
When it comes to choosing a new shower for your bathroom it’s well worth investing in the best you can afford. Immersing yourself in the drenching experience of a luxurious rainfall shower first thing in the morning is an energizing and invigorating way to start the day. A good shower should combine style and function, consistently delivering the optimum water flow and pressure while adding an aesthetically pleasing look to your bathroom.
Instead of reaching for your smartphone as soon as you wake up and immediately delving into emails and news updates develop a quick morning exercise routine. Set aside just five or ten minutes and get out your yoga mat to practice a few sun salutations or simple stretching exercises. Not only will it help you stay strong, supple and healthy, you’ll be amazed at the difference it makes to your productivity throughout the rest of the day too.
3. Design your bathroom to accommodate your morning routine
How well designed is the space in your bathroom? Do you have somewhere to store toiletries and other items you use regularly so that they can be easily accessed? Is the space organised, clutter free and well illuminated?
Bathrooms are often small rooms with limited natural light so it’s worth fitting a good mirror with built in LED lighting.
As well as giving your bathroom a bright and airy feel this will also ensure that you have a suitable space for shaving or applying make up before you head out of the door in the morning.
Choose one with a de-mister pad to ensure that it remains condensation free and ready to use as soon as you step out of the shower no matter how steamy the bathroom gets.
4. Plan your outfit the night before
If you’re always running around trying to find something to wear in the morning save yourself time and stress by planning your outfit the night before. It only takes a couple of minutes and if you have a busy day ahead knowing that you’re already fully prepared will help you to get a good night’s sleep, meaning you’re more likely to wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go in the morning.
5. Don’t skip breakfast
Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. No matter how much of a rush you are in don’t leave the house with an empty stomach. Start the day hungry and you’ll be distracted by cravings that will prevent you from focusing on the tasks that lie ahead, so opt for something healthy and nutritious.
A hearty bowl of porridge topped with fruit will provide a satisfying meal that will keep you full through until lunchtime and won’t have you reaching for mid morning snacks.
