Hooray for National Bed Month!
It may sound too good to be true, but honestly, it’s National Bed Month! As we all know, sleep is so important for our bodies and, as we have to do it every night, you may as well make the most of it. Read on for some tips and tricks for a peaceful night sleep and discover that dreaming doesn’t have to stop in the bedroom…
Run a luxurious bath (and invest in some bath treats!)
We may be a bit bias, but we think a long soak before bed is THE best way to rewind and relax after a long day. Leave your troubles at the door and slip into a bubble-filled, perfectly fragranced, hot and steamy wonderland. Read a book, pour yourself a glass of wine or flick through your favourite magazine… and relax! If you fancy it, pop on some soothing music (but be careful you don’t fall asleep!)
Or if that isn’t your cup of tea, have a shower!
We know that not every enjoys indulging in a bath, or that you might just not have the time (boo!). We reckon that a long shower also does the trick before bedtime, just make sure it is nice and warm as the cold may wake you up!
Light some candles.
The flicker of a candle is the epitome of ‘me time’. Once that candle has been lit, you know that some serious pampering is about to happen!
Bathrooms are the perfect place to start your bedtime voyage to Sleepy Land. Face masks are a great way to incorporate a relaxing addition to your routine. Look for ones that include relaxing scents to soothe your skin and your mind – they’ll feel great and you’ll go to bed feeling refreshed yet mellow.
Change your mattress/buy some new pillows.
It is recommended that you change your mattress every 8 years. If that isn’t in your budget, why not invest in some new pillows? Anything that makes your bed more comfy and cosy is a winner in our eyes!
Put down your phone
We all know it, and most of us hate to admit it, but looking at a bright screen before you sleep makes it harder to fall asleep. That also includes your TV, so (literally!) switch off half an hour before you head to the land of nod. You’ll thank yourself in the morning.
Enjoy a warm drink...
And we don’t mean coffee! There are plenty of teas and hot chocolates that you can indulge in before bed that have soothing benefits and, most importantly, no caffeine. That said, its best to avoid caffeine after 5 o’clock as it may still be buzzing in your system as you tuck yourself in.
Writing this has made us want a nap… Goodnight everyone! Zzzzzz.
